Bird in a Box

My mom found this little guy in the corner of our front porch and thought that it may be hurt. Since she was about to leave the house, she told me to put the bird in a box and take it inside. When she left I put on some gloves, got a box, and tried to carefully get the little guy in the box. However, since it was extremely windy today, I figured that I may not be injured and that it is probably just trying to get out of the wind. So as I was standing up, the bird noticed that the front door was open and it ran inside the house. So I got it inside the box, thankfully it made no attempt to fly, and I took it to my back yard where the house was blocking out most of the wind. I let the bird out of the box and the bird found shelter under some fallen bicycles.

EDIT: Ok, so I wen to let my dogs outside a while after I let the bird go and it was in the same exact spot as where I had left it. I approach and it made no attempt to fly. I grew more and more fearful that it may actually be injured. I got the bird back inside the box and took the bird inside the house. I made sure that all was quiet and that the bird was kept in darkness (it helps calm the bird). After some research, I the wild bird rescue that my dad took a bird too a couple of years back and I called them. They told me where to go and my brother and I took the bird there. The person now caring for the bird said that the bird is a young Inca Dove. The bird in now in good hands and, once it is well enough, will be released back to the wild.
